this time last week i was standing in madison square gardens waiting for the arctic monkeys to play the concert of my fucking life. i was laden down with tour merch, stomach full of chinese food, and feet sore from the met. and now i'm here and it's so so weird how you can go from one extreme to another - from dancing shoes to lonely saturday nights.

it was a whirlwind that was never supposed to amount to anything. the tickets i bought on a whim, the idea came out of nowhere; it wasn't supposed to work. until it did. we built it up, made it into something. i flew to new york city on thursday night with my best friend and flew out sunday morning.

it was the best weekend of my life.

i went to the strand (picked up the coreal sea and tao te ching) and washington square park and hotel chelsea. i took selfies in grand central station and wore purple converse while staring at a picasso. i heard alex fucking turner sing 'all my loving' live, and actually nearly died.

phenomenal. absolutely unreal

in one and a half hours it will officially be christmas, which is the best news ever. it's been an absolute mess here for the pass couple of days - a massive ice storm wiped out most of the trees on my street and has left many people i know without power - so it's a bit of a count your blessings kind of week.

i had dinner tonight with my family, my sister's boyfriend (fresh off the plane from calgary), and a family we're close with, who haven't had any power since sunday. we had turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, the whole shebang, and it was really lovely. really nice.

the break is very much needed at the moment. my birthday's coming up soon (10 days!) which should be fun, and i've already got new years plans stacked up, and a christmas party on the 27th, and i'm still buzzing from seeing beyonce on the 14th (she was everything i could hope for and more). basically, life is going okay right now, and i'm really glad for that. school is getting dull and a little awful but friends are fun and even though i'm a bit all over the place (and maybe sort of have a crush on my friend who is a girl and it's awful????), i think this will be good. good for me. i hope it's good for you too.

things to accomplish: university applications, get a tattoo, read the general in his labyrinth, write a 5k original story, memorize lucky's monologue from waiting for godot, finish the big bang tomlinshaw fic, try and finish my tgbbo!au, and maybe that one i just started (so much fic, so little time not spent procrastinating!!)

merry christmas all! and if you don't celebrate christmas, then i wish you the very best last-week-of-december and hope you are smiling :)

happy thanksgiving!!

in canada we celebrate thanksgiving in october when it is still pretty and yellow and red and you have a chance at playing an outdoor game with your family :) said family and i played such outdoor games this weekend and also cribbage and watched the avengers. my sister was down and she brought her kitten, ollie. overall it was a very pleasant weekend.

we also had yorkshire puddings and potatoes and stuffing and turkey for dinner last night which was wondrous.

your five senses right now
touch - my tiger blanket under my bum. it is also slightly nippy, so i've shoved my foot under the afghan next to me.
taste - the lingering effects of my tuna sandwich.
see - my bedroom! it is quite bright. through my window it looks as if the sun has hidden behind a cloud.
hear - the washing machine downstairs. r u mine by the arctic monkeys is stuck in my head though.
smell - nothing really. sorry. that's not a very exciting answer.

your pet hates
um. well. i hate ear wax in my ears? not a huge fan of that.

what's in your handbag
my fancy bookbag has: my laptop charger, my phone, two charles dickens books, one book on charles dickens (i have an essay coming up, can you tell?), the first season of downton abbey, franny and zooey by jd salinger, two pens, a pencil, and my wallet.

what are your worst habits
i'm really obnoxious sometimes and i don't know when to stop. also, i bite my nails which is very irritable.

what is your best physical feature
i have freckles on my nose sometimes! that's a thing i'm fond of. also i like my forearms. they have a scattering of odd moles and bumpy veins and i don't know, i think they're swell.

(we'll just leave it here, then. finish the rest up later)

happy weekend!!

i skipped yesterday because i'm awful at these things and also i was out all day at the shaw festival! it's basically this cool theatre in niagara-on-the-lake that only performs plays from shaw's time, and it's wicked sick. i had a lovely sandwichs, hung about with friends, got a shirt from cows (see below!!!) and saw oscar wilde's lady windmiere's fan

cows is the best store ever, basically

a very good day

4. What are you afraid of?

this question reminds me of nick grimshaw and annie mac the other night, playing confessions roulette on bbc radio 1 (so worth the watch if you haven't seen it) and

-side note: greg james and russell kane did something similar the day before and russell kane told the world that greg had a one night stand with RITA ORA. and the bbc like, edited the video afterwards so it didn't include that clip. and NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT THIS-

it really got me thinking because nick's fear was actually so like - a lot deeper than i'd think he would have gone for. i used to always think that my biggest fear was sleeping and never waking up, but i think that it's changed a bit to watching someone jump in front of a subway train. just absolutely terrifies me. to the point where when a train pulls into the station i have to close my eyes or turn around to face the wall. just awful.

5. 10 songs you love right now

only 10??? ergh.

the is sort of long soCollapse )

3. Your favorite quote

well first of all i should say that the sentence above is grammatically incorrect (according to an english teacher of mine) because quote is a verb. quotation is a noun.

so my favourite quotation is:

GOD: I own you like I own the caves.
THE OCEAN: Not a chance. No comparison.
GOD: I made you. I could tame you.
THE OCEAN: At one time, maybe. But not now.
GOD: I will come to you, freeze you, break you.
THE OCEAN: I will spread myself like wings. I am a billion tiny feathers. You have no idea what's happened to me.

Why did we almost destroy the earth? Because we felt alone, and it was there. But we are not alone. We’re so profoundly connected to each other, to nature. Last week, I ate an apple. Do you know what I mean?

hello hi hello world

because theviolonist did it and also because it's rather dead around here, isn't it? all those fancy people moving their bums over to ao3

1. Introduction and recent photo

i look like a lunatic. this is a regular thing

hiya! i'm sabrina and i'm 17 and i live in a very lovely place called canada in a rather dull suburb not too far from toronto. i've been in fandom for like.. 6 years? started out with sammy keyes, which is the cutest book series for 12 year olds ever, and then moved onto harry potter with a brief interlude into glee until i smashed into the one direction fandom. i have been stuck here ever since. i am not a night owl nor am i a party animal - i don't write as much as i used to, and my cat murphy, whom i was head over heels in love with, recently died. it's all very tragic.

things i enjoy:
harry styles' face (i mean really), ancient history, modern history, literature, mathilde (see above), writing writing writing, music (i saw bastille last wednesday!!! they were incredible!!!), british radio (this is code for nick grimshaw), cats, crinkly leaves, any and all people i consider friends, my halloween costume (lindsay funke, i'm making the slut shirt asap), autumn, ben howard, simon amstell, and gilmore girls.

things i don't really enjoy as much:
when my friends are sad and i can't do anything about it, the sound of construction paper ripping, severus snape, mean people, and my nose.

hey! you should do this too!!

i (embarrassingly) just started arrested development and am absolutely loving it. my friend martine also lent me the first series of downton abbey, and i'm just easing myself into it now, which is good fun. on my television screen at this very moment (paused all nice and quaint on a diner scene) is friday night lights, a show my mother and sister became obsessed with last year and i'm only now just delving into. if you haven't seen it yet, the filming is incredible and there are so many excellently flawed characters in just the first episode that i'm quickly falling in love

i finished the kite runner, as well as where angels fear to tread and a passage to india (both by the awesomely awesome e.m forster). i completely adore him and his real, quick, witty writing. also he was handsome and british and gay and wow, wait, he used to do shows on bbc radio? so basically my type is pretty specific (meaning e.m forster and nick grimshaw *weeps*). i started his posthumously published maurice too and i'm enjoying it but it's slow.
also this harry/nick genderswap was really really good as well as this one

listening to:
i pretty much drool everytime i hear macklemore & ryan lewis (seeing them this summer at osheaga!!!!!!!!) and bastille and the 5th dimension's wedding bell blues. speaking of osheaga (a music festival in montreal this summer), there are some incredible people playing: macklemore (obviously), ben howard (!!!!!), mumford, imagine dragons (!!! :D :D :D), vampire weekend, frank ocean (let me drool like jesus he's hot), ellie goulding, two door cinema club, jimmy eat world, gaslight anthem, jessie ware and a bunch of other people and i'm super excited.

obsessing over:
the usual crowd of cuties along with cutie cutie cutie george shelley and the impossibly clever simon amstell.
also my CAT murphy :D
